  • Steinway & Sons’ ability to produce pianos is severely obstructed by the United States intervention in the Korean War: the raw materials, necessary for piano manufacturing, are diverted to the military.
  • To stay in business, and to keep the workers employed, Steinway & Sons gets involved yet again in aircraft manufacturing, making wooden helicopter floors for Piasecki Helicopter Corporation.
