1892 – 1893

  • Ignacy Jan Paderewski’s second tour in America is a phenomenal success, not only for the pianist, but also for Steinway & Sons. This time Charles Tretbar and his Concert and Artists department treat maestro in style: Paderewski travels, accompanied by a secretary, a tour manager, a valet, a piano technician, a chef, two porters, a masseur and a doctor, in a private railway car with a bedroom, kitchen, dining room and salon, hosting a Steinway & Sons grand piano.
  • Ignacy Jan Paderewski finally gives Steinway & Sons pianos the promised public praise: “had nothing to say, but to play and praise the instrument. […] They are the greatest pianos in the world.”
