- The Minutes of the Annual Meeting of Steinway & Sons Stockholders indicate that over 2,000 Victory Verticals had been built by Steinway & Sons during the war.
- During the same meeting Theodore E. Steinway makes the announcement that Steinway’s old factory in Hamburg had been destroyed, and all its historic records are gone; the new factory at Rondenbarg needs major repairs. He also informs the stockholders that at the new factory, approximately 600 pianos in various stages of completion have remained intact, despite numerous Allied bombing raids. Theodore E. Steinway finishes his speech with the optimistic statement: “The future looks rosy and we can manufacture the goods that are needed and wanted.”
