C.F. Theodor Steinweg moves from Wolfenbeuttel to much larger Braunschweig, having bought a house, and mortgaging it for 14,000 thalers. He establishes a workshop in a former mayor’s mansion at 48 Bohlweg Strasse in the inner, medieval part of the city. He still owns the Wolfenbeuttel house and owes money for it.
