New York Times publishes the account of pianist Franz Rummel giving afternoon recitals in the basement of city’s new Music Hall at 57 Street and 7th Avenue: “It might have been advisable to defer the opening of the place until the pounding of many hammers in other parts if the building had ceased”. (Approximately three months later Franz Rummel will abandon Steinway & Sons piano, to play a Knabe – possibly as a result of failed competition against Paderewski.)
