The trustees of Steinway & Sons order Henry W.T. Steinway to pay rent for the company-owned apartment he has occupied free for many years. In lieu of payment, Henry offers to lease to Steinway & Sons two houses he owns at Steinway Village as a home for the Astoria factory bookkeeper A.J. Menzl. William Steinway declines Henry W.T. Steinway’s offer, and decides to build the new house for A.J. Menzl instead.
