Steinway & Sons builds its very first Model D concert grand piano (#51,257). (120 years later, in 2004, Steinway & Sons will rediscover that piano, buy it back, completely refurbish it, and will include it in the Concert & Artists inventory (see the corresponding 2004 entry).
