Steinway & Sons factory re-opens. Celebrating their victory, several thousand pianomakers of New York, led by a band playing “Hail, Columbia”, march to Steinway & Sons’ Fourth Avenue factory. At the gates they are greeted by C.F. Theodor Steinweg, who gives Steinway & Sons workers $50 dollars, and tells them to take a day off and go to the Turtle Bay Brewery.
