  • Steinway & Sons confidential circular, dated with this day, mentions a prestigious rosewood case, added to the cheapest Steinway & Sons’ Style 1 square piano.
  • In the same circular, William Steinway writes to dealers and agents: “We have just forwarded to the Centennial Fair in Philadelphia, for exhibition and competition, five Grand, three Upright and one Square Grand Piano, containing our latest patented improvements, which, with the elegant fitting up of the space alotted to us, in the Main Exhibition Hall, will make a magnificent display. We also exhibit in the Machinery Hall a number of our own Composite Metal castings in their various stages of progression, also the various metal parts of Pianofortes, which we manufacture in our own establishments.”
