  • Anton Rubinstein’s last morning in America. William Steinway’s diary: “Call on Rubinstein at 8 1/2 A.M., give him all his documents and obtain a little certificate from him.”
  • Rubinstein’s “certificate”, registering his experience of Steinway & Sons pianos is brief, and rather curt, praising the piano’s “capacity of enduring the severest trials. For during all my long and difficult journeys all over America, in a very inclement season, I used and have been enabled to use your pianos…. with the most eminent satisfaction and effect.”
  • Anton Rubinstein has given 215 performances in the course of 239 days, sometimes two or three concerts per day. Fifty of those concerts Rubinstein performed in new York City. The pianist and his Steinway & Sons pianos have traveled as far west as Colorado and as far south as New Orleans.
