Steinway & Sons initiates the sale of its factory building on Park Avenue, between 52nd and 53rd Streets, for $650,000. (The profit from the sale will allow Charles H. Steinway to pay off the mortgage that William Steinway had taken on the factory in 1893, and to add three more stories to the Ditmars factory building two years later.)
