New York Times publishes “The Truth at Last”. The article includes the complete text of the Steinway & Sons Centennial Exhibition certificate: “This is to certify that the piano-fortes of Messrs. Steinway & Sons, comprising Concert and Parlor Grand, Square and Upright, exhibited by them at the Centennial Exposition at Philadelphia in 1876, presented the greatest totality of excellent qualities and novelty of construction, and in all points of excellents they received our highest average of points, and accordingly our unanimous opinion concedes to Messrs. Steinway & Sons a highest degree of excellence in all their styles”. (The report, signed by ten of the Centennial Exhibition judges, will be republished in Steinway & Sons catalogues and advertisements for the next two decades.)
