- William Steinway meets German Emperor (Kaiser) Wilhelm II and his wife, and gives the royal couple a Steinway & Sons grand piano.
- William Steinway’s diary: “am recd by the Emperor in the most charming and courteous manner, he giving me his hand, I tell him many things in answer to his questions he said also that it was by no means impossible that he would visit Chicago next year I also hoped that Natl German Government would be empowered as in America to supersede all State authority in time of epidemics. The last 10 Minutes we were joined by the Empress thanking me for my interest giving me her hand. The Emperor then presents me with a beautiful picture of himself subscribed by him “Wilhelm, Deutscher Kaiser, König von Preussen, Marmor Palais, 11/19 1892 I am also introduced to a number of high Officials”.
