Charles H. Steinway and his brother Frederick T. Steinway make arrangements to buy five private houses: three on West 57th Street and two on West 58th. The plan is to demolish the houses and to build a new Steinway Hall on West 57th Street – a replica of the original Steinway Hall on East 14th Street. The brothers have the preliminary plans drawn for the new building.
