  • Steinway & Sons donates money for building a two-story brick school for 500 – 1,000 students at Steinway village in Astoria. The government of Long Island City has provided two teachers, Steinway & Sons hires the third teacher (of German and music).
  • Teresa Carreño, famous for being not only a brilliant pianist, but also an opera singer, composer and conductor, tours the United States for Steinway & Sons.
  • The Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio begins to use exclusively Steinway & Sons pianos, thus becoming the first ever All-Steinway School. (The partnership will continue all through Steinway & Sons history, into the XXI century.)
