  • Steinway & Sons factory in Hamburg builds 847 pianos.
  • At Theodore E. Steinway initiative, Steinway & Sons begins to put together a year-long worldwide program for the following year, in commemoration of Steinway & Sons 100th anniversary, titled “Centenary: a tribute to a century of service to music”. The purpose of the program is to boost Steinway & Sons piano sales.
  • John H. Steinway becomes the chairman of the three-men worldwide tribute committee (the other two members are Roman de Majewski and Alexander Greiner).
  • Steinway & Sons 160 American dealers form their own 19-men “Executive Committee for Steinway Centennial”.
